We are ready for take-off!

After months of scheming, planning and iterating we are happy to finally announce the official start of our codekultur journey.

Does the world really need another software company? Shouldn’t we just go and get hired by one of those companies out there and do our job? Wouldn’t it be a lot more convenient to have other people giving us work to do instead of taking the stony path of customer acquisition? Are we really able to differentiate ourselves from the crowds out there?

If you think about it like that, we would have never started a company of our own. So why did we do it? Let me break it down to three good reasons:

  1. A wonderful team.
  2. A love for our profession.
  3. A desire to work on things that matter.

While working in a corporate context we have had a team experience that you only rarely get. It was like our big, extended family and it felt right to be there. Then suddenly the corporation started to restructure and to play office politics, that destroyed not only our team but also productivity and happiness all over the company. Many people left.
We are now trying to bring back those people and create one of the most productive teams ever giving everyone the environment that she or he needs to strive.

Our second smallest common denominator* is the love for our profession. There are software developers out there who have been doing their job for the last 10 years and who are still writing the same unstructured, unmaintainable, hard-to-understand code like they did 10 years ago. And then there are software developers who see the beauty behind code, who love to create structures and who not only want to get shit done but want that shit to shine. We need people like that.

And of course we want to work on things that matter. We want to be able to give ourselves room to work on our own ideas, to test new things and to figure out on our own, what is needed in our always-connected world.

So does the world really need another software company? Honestly, we don’t care.

The world has another software company now: codekultur.

* I know, there can be only one smallest common denominator, but we are not talking about Maths here, okay? It’s about feelings and stuff!
